About Farah

Meet Farah Khan

Confident, dynamic and commercially astute Commercial Lawyer with a cutting-edge approach to law and a passion for fresh challenges in life. Being admitted as a Barrister & Solicitor for over 18 years I am constantly expanding my horizon with new experiences. I aim to hold myself to account on my key values being honesty, integrity and authenticity continue to apply these to my everyday life.

After 14 years of practice in private law firms, I have made the transition to In-house Legal Counsel and feel like I have found my passion within the law.

The majority of my legal practice has been spent as a Partner within a private practice. Throughout my career, working predominantly within a general practice law firm, I have demonstrated an exceptional record of accomplishment, continuously setting myself high standards and achieving outstanding quantifiable results.

I spent 7 years of practice as a Managing Partner of a thriving Auckland firm. Managing up to 5 staff Solicitors alongside multiple Legal Executives and Support Staff. I have amassed profound leadership and management skills. Going through the daily grind of an urban general practice law firm has given me exposure to a number or areas of law including but not limited to, Employment, Criminal, Civil, Family, Estates, Trusts, Wills, Immigration, Conveyancing and Company and Business Law. I appear regularly in the district courts around Auckland and in the Auckland High Court on Civil matters.

I am a quick thinker and a keen learner, always looking for different ways to up skill my knowledge base and experiences. I am confident, possess a sound knowledge base and I am amenable to moving within the different areas of law. I have an insight into my limitations when an issue is beyond my level of expertise and more importantly I know how to source a solution to such legal jeopardies.

I am skilled at identifying and addressing potential legal issues that may affect a company and thereby devising strategies to adequately deal with these; such problem solving skills and strategising approach which comes only with a broad base of legal experience therefore usually lacking in most lawyers.

Having dealt with many migrant clients who have business in other countries I was appointed the youngest Notary Public in New Zealand and am the first female Notary public of Indian Origin in 2015.

I have a passion for community empowerment and was the previous Chair of the Chelsea Primary School Board. I believe that it takes only one person to make a difference and I strive to be that one person.
